“I think I have been a photographer since I was a child. Though I didn’t own a camera back then, I realise looking back that I always looked at things in a two-dimensional space and interpreted what I saw in terms of how beautiful a photo it would make. These days I still see that way of course, but I now have the tools to capture what I see and share it with the world! ”.

Justine Brentnall has been an established artist since 2008 specialising in portraiture and drawing. In 2018 she extended her practice to specialise in visual communication and completed a double Bachelors Degree in Photography and Graphic Design at CSU. She now practices as a professional photographer and as a Graphic Designer through her brand Arty Crow. Justine also continues her passion for drawing over at Justine Brentnall Custom Drawing.

“I think having a strong background in art and design definitely makes me a better photographer, and vice versa - my photographic eye plays a big role in how I produce drawings and designs that create an effective and successful reading of an image or graphic”

Justine works with a mix between a Canon R5 professional 45 megapixel mirrorless camera, and a Canon 5D Mark IV dslr, and shoots with a range of prime and zoom lenses. In studio and on location she uses a mix of natural and controlled lighting. “I like being able to control the lighting so I can illuminate my subject in the most creative, flattering, and effective way for the purpose of the shot”.

In post-processing each image presented is hand-edited to fine detail. “If you receive an image from me, rest assured every inch of it has been fussed over! Every part of the image from click to finish is curated and never batch processed”.
